Proposed Splash Park

The Dream - "Play is the child's work." So says Joe Frost Ph.D, noted childhood development expert and professor emeritus at the University of Texas. A Splash Park makes possible the development of children by facilitating creativity, individuality, and social, physical and intellectual growth. Play experiences provide enjoyment and emotional fulfillment that ultimately will lead to children becoming productive and contributing members of society.

            Other benefits:

  • Establishes healthy exercise habits
  • Demonstrates that exercise can be fun
  • Encourages family activity
  • Simple fun that is so often overlooked in today's busy society
  • Adults can interact and socialize

The Proposed Place - We are currently researching ideas for the placement for the park. There are several locations available. More research is being conducted to find a location in the Romeo Area Kiwanis service area. We are hoping to bring people and business to the area. It can become a “destination” as well as provide recreation to the residents.

The Splash Park Plan - A very simple splash park as shown in picture. Size of cement play area is 50' by 50'. It contains 5 rings in the center and 7 different spray features around the perimeter. It will have an activator so that it will only be in use when occupied. It will have a water softening system and a recirculating water system to minimize water and sewer use. The recirculating system will automatically shut down the park if water becomes unsafe and will notify users the approximate time that the park will reopen. Additional features will be a pump house and a wrought iron fence surrounding the perimeter with an entrance that discourages bike entry. A gate will be provided for Handicap access. Around the cement area will be benches for viewing and picnicing.
